I was suprised to not find an already established topic about what must be the most anticipated movie of all time. I mean, come on! Who, around series 5 or 6 of the originally aired series, didn't start to think about a feature length ep? I'm not an expert but assuming a year per season, that was more than 10 years ago!

Watched it... and thought it was average. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. Maybe a shade under-par (hah!) when put up against the equivalent length of your favorite eps. It kinda demonstrated, to me, how hard it can be to make a movie when you're so used to a 24 minute window *shrug* The story felt stretched out. I don't know if that was more to do with me or the movie itself.

There was one particular thing that bugged me. Maybe one of you can confirm it? My memory's not to be trusted. (highlight for tiny tiny spoiler)The wedding video that Marge tapes over; didn't Homer tape over it already in the series?

All in all, meh. Pretty poor show, considering the source, but in the grand scheme of things, middle of the field. I didn't want much; a decent story that wasn't sureal and at least one gut-busting laugh. I was short-changed.

Let me know how far into the credits you got as well :)
Yup...

Maybe it's because I cracked up at the first trailer for this movie, some time at the beginning of this year or at the end of 2006, or because we had the movie poster in our apartment for most of the year, or because I just began to appreciate The Simpsons, but whatever reason it is, I can't wait to see this. Not that I have the money or time yet, but I hope I will after this friday (when I'll be done with work and school).

It felt like one long episode rather than a movie. Not as awful as some of the new episodes, because those are pretty terrible. But not as good as some of the classic episodes either. I'd say it's about on par with the episodes of maybe 3-4 years ago or so, when the plots were getting kind of absurd, but you still got a chuckle from the simpsons.
Decent movie...but I wish they had ended the show with the movie, the new episodes are just an embarrassment to the series.

trix :)

I feel similar to trix about the Simpsons, I'm afraid. I quit watching Simpsons around the turn of the century. By then, either I changed or the show did and I would find myself watching Simpsons the whole episode without cracking a grin. Watching out of habit, I guess. Anyway, I quit em. But for years they'd been talking about making a Simpsons movie and now that its out I kinda do want to see it. From the way you guys are acting though, it sounds like it isn't all that great. Am I right?

I think the movie was pretty good, but as with anything like this, the hype and expectations were just too high. The Simpsons has been around for 20 years now, and perhaps a movie was the wrong path to take. That said, I bet it made them a shed load of cash.

I dunno, I was kinda dissapointed, even though it was a good movie.

Anyway, before I forget... (don't think this counts as a spoiler)

Rainier Wolfcastle - why did they call him Arnold Schwarzenegger this time around?

It was decently funny, but it wasn't nonstop hilarity. Maybe my mind was being jumbled by the excess of homos in the theatre. By homos I'm talking about people who laugh at every part(especially the parts that werent jokes). Everyone in the theatre just went in there and laughed their balls off. That would be fine if everyone who laughed didn't sound like a crying baby. Also there were atleast 3 or 4 people in the theatre who would repeat the last dialogue while they laughed. It was an entire theatre effort to ruin the movie. Wow, what a bunch of bull.
