So I got my Xbox 360 fixed up by a guy in engineering at my university. He changed the disk drive, changed the fans, removed the old thermal paste and replaced it with a higher quality thermal paste, cut off the top panel of the system and replaced it with a glass panel, and put green LEDs all around the inside of the system. It was running a bit shitty before, but it is running great right now.

p.s. he also painted it black! lol

Haha, ya it was already out of warranty. A guy who lived on the floor above me in residence, he had a 360 as well, and both of our consoles were getting similar problems. A lot of disk read errors, problems turning the system on, one red light, that kind of stuff. Then one day, his system just stopped turning on. He called up Microsoft to get them to fix it, and they said that his wasn't under warranty anymore, and unless his system showed him the red ring, they wouldn't cover the cost of the repairs. So to repair it, would have cost him quite a bit of money, and they estimated the time of repair to be about a month and a half or so. So he just got this engineering guy to fix up his 360, and then since mine was having similar problems, I just did the same thing, before my 360 died...couldn't have it dying right before GTA 4 comes out lol
